About New York Dog Film Festival

New York Dog Film Festival: Short Films Honor Canine Companions

The first annual New York Dog Film Festival is a celebration of the remarkable bond between dogs and their people. Onscreen at New York's Peter Norton Symphony Space at Broadway and 95th Street, there'll be two distinct short film programs, featuring a medley of animated, documentary and narrative films from around the world. At the noon screening session, you'll see shorts like the Australian spoof "Game of Bones", an animated ode to the Soviet Union's first canine cosmonaut and even a PSA about breed discrimination. There's also a screening of famed Weimaraner photographer William Wegman's 1995 short "The Hardly Boys in Hardly Gold", which was re-mixed and remastered just for the festival. The 4:00pm session includes a character study of a circus trainer and her performing poodles, a moving piece about service dogs and "The Fog of Courage", a horror-comedy created by Oscar-nominated animator John R. Dilworth, who'll be in attendance. The festival's a celebration of canine companionship for dog-lovers of any age.
