About NetWork Trio: Charnett Moffett, Stanley Jordan & Jeff Tain Watts
Nettwork Trio: Charnett Moffett (bass) Stanley Jordan (guitar) Jeff 'Tain' Watts (drums)
?This all-star trio is the first ever tour by three longtime virtuosi friends: Prodigious bassist Charnett Moffett first appeared on record in 1974 at age seven with the Moffett Family Band (his father Charles was a drummer with Ornette Coleman's group). He enrolled in Juilliard at age sixteen only to leave early to tour with Wynton Marsalis. Since then Charnett has appeared on over 200 recordings with such artists as Art Blakey, McCoy Tyner, Tony Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Dianne Reeves, Arturo Sandoval, Anita Baker, Harry Connick, Jr., David Sanborn, Branford Marsalis, and Bette Midler. Guitarist Stanley Jordan's 1985 album "Magic Touch" for Blue Note Records was an enormous critical and commercial success, remaining at the top of the jazz charts for fifty-one weeks. With his bold reinventions of classical masterpieces and soulful jazz adaptations of pop-rock hits, not to mention his unorthodox two-handed-fretboard-tapping style of guitar playing, Jordan often leaves listeners breathless. Drummer Jeff 'Tain' Watts is one of the most in-demand jazz drummers in the world today for his explosive power, his mastery of complex rhythms, and his ability to move from an elegant touch to gritty street funk. Watts initially majored in classical percussion at Duquesne Univeristy before transferring to Berklee College of Music, after which he became associated with Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, George Benson, Harry Connick Jr., McCoy Tyner, and many others.
