Mostly Mozart Festival: 51st Annual Salute to Wolfgang & Friends

Each summer for more than half a century, Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival has celebrated the composer's inventive genius and inspiring legacy with a series of performances that explore his immortal music as well as those of his classical contemporaries and beyond. This year's series at David Geffen Hall kicks off with the Young People's Chorus of New York City joining the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra under the baton of Louis Langr??e for a concert of folk songs and more called "The Singing Heart". Among the acclaimed artists scheduled to appear throughout the series are pianists Jeremy Denk ("Beethoven and Schubert"), Beatrice Rana ("Schubert's "Great" Symphony") and Kirill Gerstein ("Brahms' Symphony No. 1"), plus the inventive So Percussion ("The "Paris" Symphony") and violinist Thomas Zehetmair ("Beethoven Violin Concerto"). A multiple Grammy-winning violinist and recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Award, Gil Shaham has scored praise from audiences and critics alike for his warm tone and engaging stage presence. He'll cap off this year's event with Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, while Langr??e and the Festival Orchestra bring it all home with Mozart's "Little G minor" Symphony. Each concert features a pre-show recital as well.
