About MORI, Jean Pool, High Falls
MORI is a 19 year old singer-songwriter hailing from the remarkably homogenous and altogether lame suburb of Rye Brook, New York. Mori has been playing the guitar since the age of ten, and writing and singing since she was around fourteen. After discovering a love for music emanating from deep within her being, Mori quickly abandoned her early childhood hopes of becoming a veterinarian or professional tennis player, and instead decided to write and play music.
Mori's middle school awkwardness combined with her high school angst led her to seek refuge in an amalgam of diverse artists and bands, each of which influenced her music in different, yet profound, ways. Taken as a whole, Mori's music would perhaps best be placed under the umbrella of indie rock, but her songwriting style most assuredly nods in the direction of alternative pop. But then again, who need genres? Just listen to whatever the fuck you like! That's the only category Mori really wants her music to fall into, anyway.
Despite suffering from a self-diagnosed case of Congenital Photographic Facial Indecision- that is, whenever posing for pictures, Mori can never decide what face to make, and is forced to anxiously flash through many faces until the picture has been taken-Mori is determined to "make it" as a musician. Through playing shows, writing, recording, selling/giving out her music, promoting, and by just straight chillin' with her homies, Mori hopes that people will take notice and take interest in this project and spread the word and the music (and the love)! Mori doesn't need to sell a million records or play Madison Square Garden, but the idea of other people getting the same feelings out of her music that she gets from her favorite artists is a goal she will strive for indefinitely.
Mori attends Northwestern University, so be on the lookout for shows around Evanston and Chicago, Illinois!!! New York is still home, though, so keep an eye out for gigs in New York City as well.
Out from the ashes we chillin, listen.
High Falls is a high energy Brooklyn three-piece that does a mixture of indie punk and feel good dance tunes.
