Modern Diet, The Notions

Originally begun as a solo project, Modern Diet was the moniker under which Jake Cheriff wrote, recorded and released a three song EP in the summer of 2012. After connecting with fellow music majors Dan Hemerlein (bass), Noah Hyams (drums) and Lee Meadvin (guitar) shortly after arriving at New York University in the fall of 2012, Modern Diet evolved into an electric four-piece outfit. Drawing on four very different pools of influence, Modern Diet's sound is an unconventional yet successful marriage of jazz, indie rock, and ambient music. The sound is mature yet energetic.
Modern Diet released their debut EP as a group, "Commuter," in the Spring of 2013, available on iTunes and Spotify. Plans for 2014 include more shows, a music video, and a follow-up EP.
