About Miserable Chillers, Peel Dream Magazine, Hotline, Pale Joyride
If you're not careful, Brooklyn trio Hotline might just hypnotize you into dreamy sonic rapture. A collaboration among Mike Zorrilla and Mike Kirby (of labelmates Tiger Dare) with drummer Ian Vidaurre, the band offers up a sound that vibes hard like the Lemonheads by way of American Football's intricacy — that can hush low like Ida but explode into '80s ecstatic release for your inner Kate Bush. Serene melodies cycle in and out, lacing the hazy mix with gently offered pleasures that wouldn't sound out of place in a Red House Painters track. The band's aptly named first single, "Don't Look Away," kicks off with mesmerizing, phased-out guitar arpeggios, and then builds an irresistible groove so warm and inviting you'll want to live inside. These are longtime veterans who know how to offer up delicately crafted songs that soothe and thrill at once.
Hotline's debut 7" will be released on Wonderland Archives early 2016.
