About Mick Flannery

Since his debut in 2007, his third album ‘Red to Blue’ rocketed straight to number one in Ireland knocking Madonna off the top of the charts in 2012.

A stonemason by trade, his ballads and folksy guitar and piano tunes are influenced by the likes of Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits. With his gruff-voice, Flannery is at his best performing acoustic melancholic ballads that speak of heartache and loss.

His first album 'Evening Train' won critical acclaim but modest commercial success. This was followed by 'White Lies' on EMI in 2008 which made the top 10 in Ireland, giving Flannery the springboard for a busier 2009, with TV appearances, a headlining slot at Vicar Street, tours of Ireland and the UK, an inclusion on an Irish Times list of 'the 50 Best Irish Acts Right Now', and a nomination for the Choice Music Prize.

The 30-year-old Blarney native has established a big following through touring in recent years and he attributes his chart achievement as much to word of mouth as to any promotional campaign.”
