About Mariachi Flor de Toloache

Mariachi Flor de Toloache: NYC's First All-Female Mariachi Band

Named after the magical Toloache flower that's been used in Mexico for centuries as the main ingredient in a legendary love potion, the all-female Mariachi Flor de Toloache have been bringing their spellbinding mariachi music to top stages across Mexico, Spain and the U.S. since forming in NYC in 2008. Originally a trio, the band has grown to nine members spanning all the essential instruments of a traditional mariachi band, including violins, trumpets, "guitarron" (bass), "vihuela" (five-string guitar) and guitar. Flor de Toloache's talented members span the globe, representing Puerto Rico, Mexico, Germany, Cuba, the Dominican Republic and the U.S. Now this talented "band of sisters" brings their infectious melodies, tight harmonies and vibrant stage show back to their hometown for this concert at Subrosa.
