About Maplewood

"Maplewood are like a summer breeze, makin' yah feel fine" -- Village Voice

Maplewood has released two albums. . .

Maplewood (2004)
Yeti Boombox (2009)

When Maplewood released their self-titled debut in 2004, it was as if a Santa Ana wind had blown through New York's indie-rock scene. Here was a Brooklyn band that cast its eyes westward, toward the golden shores of California and the laidback legacies of the Beach Boys, the Byrds, the Flying Burritos, Bread, America, and, God forbid, CSNY. Pop Matters declared Maplewood the originators of a 21st-century canyon-rock resurgence—"one toke away from the cosmos and harbingers of a movement already afoot. [Their music] makes you want to hit the highway and fly on the ground past the outer limits." Paste found their first album, which featured guest appearances from members of the Hold Steady and Sparklehorse, to have "a gorgeous, pot-smoking melancholy that perfectly recaptures the easy, breezy sound of vintage FM radio." Newsday anointed Maplewood one of New York's top 10 rock bands. And the indie-rock bible Magnet ranked their follow-up, Yeti Boombox, the #2 Americana record of 2009.

Members of Maplewood also play in Nada Surf, Two Dark Birds, Champale, and Bambi Kino. This is their first NYC show since 2010.
