About "Madama Butterfly"

Teatro Lirico D'Europa's "Madama Butterfly"

"Madama Butterfly" has survived the test of time, through an entire century of being the most performed opera in the United States and one of the top five in the rest of the world. Audiences never seem to get tired of her, and opera companies could not survive without her. The entire opera is told from the point of view of the title character, who endures both shame and sorrow, until she decides to take destiny into her own hands --leading to one of the most devastating and legendary final scenes in all of opera. The drama, accompanied by Puccini's emotionally charged score, portrays the dangers of misguided love and a brave pursuit of a better life. This fully-staged production from Teatro Lirico D'Europa, complete with orchestra and English supertitles, comes to the Queensborough Performing Arts Center in Bayside.
