About Lost In Wild Imagined: Art Reception

Join us for the opening reception for our September exhibit in the gallery; Lost In Wild Imagined by Camila Vilar.

--

Intuitively, I started drawing scenes far removed from the chaotic and oversaturated reality of big cities.

With these drawings, I strive to connect with the innocence and harmony of natural spaces. The lines are delicate and simple, looking always to flee from noise and contamination. I look for a place where the eye can relax and find peace.

These drawings are based on real elements, but are put together in a way that the landscapes have no real perspective, they only occur in our imagination. These landscapes seem to equate animals and plants in the same order. Protagonist and background become one. They both loose themselves in the imaginary wild.

Artist Bio:

Camila was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 2nd. She studied theatre for several years and in preparation for a role, she discovered her ability to express herself thru drawings.

Since then, she hasn’t stopped drawing. She has been commissioned to intervene lamps and curtains with her drawings for exclusive local shops, she also just finished illustrating a children's book that will be published later this year. Before leaving Buenos Aires, she founded her collective “Azul Fronton”, alongside other Argentinian artists, dedicated to paint murals around the city. She currently lives in New York city.
