About Los Van Van

Los Van Van: Cuba's Greatest Dance Orchestra

Celebrated as one of Cuba's top cultural exports and known around the world for their iconic live performances, Los Van Van makes a celebrated return to North America. Founded in 1969 by Juan Formell, Los Van Van continues to dominate as one of the world's foremost interpreters of contemporary Afro-Caribbean music. At this New York City performance, you can expect to hear the group's greatest hits, along with selections from their more recent work. When they appear at Lehman Center, Samuel Formell -- Juan's son and the band's current frontman -- will lead the ensemble through a collection of danceable tracks incorporating innovative, contemporary arrangements of Juan's grooves from the past. The legendary Pedrito Calvo opens the show.
