Little L Records Showcase w/ Bellows

Bellows is the bedroom recording project of songwriter and producer Oliver Kalb, a founding member of The Epoch art collective. The sound of Bellows is sensory and delicate, subtle and quiet but erupting with frantic wobbling drums, large orchestral sections and bursts of noise that defy the limitations of pop and folk. Though Kalb's lyrics move between the romantic and the melodramatic, the music is meant to be an encouraging listening experience, an embrace of something dark in the hopes of bringing new light into life. Bellows' latest record "Blue Breath" was recorded over the course of three years, in five bedrooms across long distances, and was released in early 2014 on Dead Labour Records. The record was recorded by layering dozens and dozens of sounds over would-be humble folk songs, the result being a soaring pop record that treads the line between minuscule and gigantic. "Blue Breath" was included in Bob Boilen of NPR's All Songs Considered's Top 20 records of 2014.
