About Little Anchor

Little Anchor blends the storytelling and simplicity of the Northwest with New York influenced pop sensibility.

The Brooklyn-based four-piece was initially conceived over a long weekend in a cabin on the Columbia River Gorge as the solo project of Pacific Northwest native, Alexa Cabellon. Upon her return to New York, the small front-woman with big ideas shared her material with friends and former NYU classmates Kendrick Lo (guitar), Thomas White (bassist), and Ian Chang (percussion) who completed the group.

Following the releases of Sunland (2010), Yellow Lights (2011), and Floating Bridges (2013), Little Anchor, now joined by drummer and mastering engineer, Alex DeTurk, is embarking on a year of recording “one song, one studio, one day” at different recording studios across Brooklyn. Staying true to heavy melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and lush arrangements, the first single, “A Familiar Place,” recorded, mixed, and mastered on March 21st at Strange Weather Recording Studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, will be released in June 2015.
