About Lincoln Center Festival: The Cleveland Orchestra Plays Beethoven and Strauss

The Cleveland Orchestra Plays Beethoven & Strauss

The Cleveland Orchestra's sublime pairing of Beethoven and Strauss takes you on a musical journey through an idyllic countryside and then indoors to the warmth of a peaceful home. This is a chance to see one of the "Big Five" American orchestras play two of the great composers. Beethoven's masterful "Pastorale" celebrates the sylvan landscape. Listen for the gentle calls of nightingale, quail, and cuckoo, the menace of a brewing storm and the joy of its passing. After this outdoor jaunt, the Orchestra takes you inside for Strauss's "Symphonia domestica", which captures a domestic scene from the composer's own household.
