Leach, Fielder, Twig Twig

When Stuart Leach was home alone one afternoon at the age of eleven, he sat down at the piano to write his first song and hasn't looked back.

In high school, Leach fronted a piano-driven rock band called Seastroke. They released an album, opened for nationally touring acts, such as Maps & Atlases, and received radio play in Dallas, LA, and Austin. When his mates went off to different colleges around the country, Leach started to work alone. Now you can find the 21-year-old college student hunkered down in his apartment in Austin, still writing songs.

In June, Leach released Kokedama, a seven song mini-album and a step in a new direction for the young artist. The songs are open and cheerful in spite of a sense of longing and nostalgia. As one reviewer put it, "The sound is casual but deep, invigorating in its emotional frankness yet not so serious that it can't get playful[...]" (Ovrld). twig twig makes songs out of things he likes and things he feels. For this show he'll be playing with his sparkly new live band, with Raphael Peterson on bass, Jason Burger on drums, and a few wind instruments.
