Deal Casino is a fiercely talented four-piece rock band from New Jersey.
Each of the band’s members - Joe P., Jon Rodney, Jozii, and Chris Donofrio – has musical roots planted firmly in the Garden State and, together, they’ve used a minimalist approach to create a highly infectious sound, with elements of alt-rock, pop and blues.
Given their undeniable chemistry, perhaps it’s no surprise that Joe and Jon have been playing together since the 7th grade, the same year they snagged Jozii from another band. Several years later, while relocating to a resurgent Asbury Park, they found their drummer Chris, and the deal was done.
Since then, Deal Casino has been writing and recording, as well as playing relentlessly in and around New Jersey, with a residency on the boardwalk during the summer and downtown during the winter.
“It's been a conscious decision to take a minimalist approach,” shares Joe P. “So much of the music that we love is a performance that was recorded by a band playing together simultaneously in a studio. We wanted to challenge ourselves to do this and not add any additional layers that we can't play live. It forced us to take away what wasn't necessary and to listen differently.”
Drawing from influences like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Tame Impala and LCD Soundsystem, Deal Casino is committed to evolving musically, while venturing further down the artist’s path with a focus on great songs and musicianship.
“The commitment to work hard has inspired us to go deeper,” explains Joe. “When anyone in the band writes, it pushes the others to write more often. And, seeing how our idols lived and worked has been inspiring and makes us more aware of what it takes to get to the next level.”
