About Lake Ruth

Lake Ruth was formed in 2015 by multi-instrumentalist Hewson Chen of The New Lines, drummer Matt Schulz (Holy Fuck, SAVAK, Enon) and vocalist Allison Brice, best known for her work with UK groups The Eighteenth Day of May and The Silver Abduction. Their debut album, Actual Entity, was released in 2016 to critical acclaim on The Great Pop Supplement (UK). 2017 saw the release of EP Intervention, Displacement and Return for WW2W (France), plus compilation contributions for TBTCI Records (Brazil) and Melotron Recordings (Greece). Their second full-length album, Birds of America, will be out on February 16th, 2018 via Feral Child (UK).

Inspired by 1960's sonic experimentation, baroque psychedelia, library obscurities, vintage pop noir, Giallo soundtracks, kraut and jazz, Lake Ruth creates intriguing and unique music rich with multilayered instrumentation, propulsive rhythms and atmospheric vocals.

A trio in the studio, Lake Ruth expands in size for the live stage with the addition of René Dennis (The New Lines), Sohrab Habibion (Obits, SAVAK) and David Mason (Listening Center). Over the past 18 months, they have played NYC Popfest, Rooftop Films, The Bowery Ballroom and other notable venues.
