About "La Fille Mal Gardée in HD"

Royal Ballet in HD at Symphony Space: "La Fille Mal Gardée"

You don't have to travel to London to see the legendary Royal Ballet perform. This Royal Opera House Cinema screening at Symphony Space shows one of the world's foremost ballet companies in top form and in high-definition as the dancers perform one of the company's signature works, "La Fille Mal Gardée". Chock-full of good humor, with dancing chickens, grouchy guardians and halfwit suitors, Frederick Ashton's final full-length ballet is one of his most exuberant. Credited with creating the genre of English ballet, Ashton draws on his love of folk dance, incorporating Lancashire clog dance and maypole dance into the piece. John Lanchbery adapted the music from Ferdinand Hérold's original score for a light and witty accompaniment matched by Osbert Lancaster's vibrant designs.
