About Justin Miller, TV Baby, Lokier

A man who needs little introduction, Justin Miller is a quintessential NYC DJ, equipped with an array of sonic styles that he effortlessly blends on the dancefloor with each set. From his days as former manager at the iconic DFA Records to sitting at the helm of his very own label, HAKT Recordings, Justin has been responsible for discovering some of today's most lauded artists. A fixture in NYC nightlife, Justin wholeheartedly understands what it takes to bring like-minded people together for the love of music, a quality that continues to set him apart as a true tastemaker.

TV Baby is the new project from Matthew McAuley and Brain McPeck. Matt and Brain, the founders of downtown electro-noise band A.R.E. Weapons, wanted to trade jobs: Matt would be the frontman, singing and playing sax; Brain would play guitar and synth. TV Baby is the spawn of the boys' free-jazzy, no-wave leanings, their love for the roots of rock and roll, and their desire to keep spirit of NYC pioneers like Suicide and the Contortions alive. At points wild, loose, and improvised, their music includes covers of Elvis, Bo Diddley, and Little Richard, set to a backdrop of squealing, stuttering guitars, vintage synths, and metal machine backbeat.

TV Baby has explored alternate methods for presenting their music. They performed a rock opera in New York and Berlin with the artist Spencer Sweeney and choreographer Maria Hassabi. Their first record, published by Aaron Bondaroff and Al Moran's OHWOW imprint, was released as an artbook with contributions from 40 downtown artists. Their latest release is a limited-edition 7" vinyl record and T-shirt package, done in collaboration with Sweeney, and available from aNYthing.
