José "Pepito" Gómez: "Tributo a La Musica Cubana"

About José "Pepito" Gómez: "Tributo a La Musica Cubana"

Cuban Timba Music and Romantic Ballads From José "Pepito" Gómez

"The New York Times" has dubbed José "Pepito" Gómez's voice a "beneficent alarm." Backed by a powerhouse ensemble of New York's Cuban all-stars, the troubadour moves from heart-wrenching romantic ballads to high-octane traditional arrangements, replete with torrents of improvisations and frenzy-inducing call-and-response. In addition to heading up the Cuban megaband Pupy y Los Que Son Son and lending his powerful pipes to a number of Latin ensembles, he's toured with the late-great trova guitarist and composer Compay Segundo. Follow Gomez on a musical journey to his homeland when he performs a tribute to Cuban music at Subrosa in New York.
