About Jon Patrick Walker

A highly respected New York actor for 25 years, appearing on Broadway, on television and in film, Jon made an unexpected and audacious leap into songwriting and music-making, self-releasing his first album, The Guilty Party, filled with hook-laden, rootsy rock and roll, in 2013. Jon co-produced the record in Nashville with Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, Sleater-Kinney), and the album features an array of respected Nashville-based musicians. Jon subsequently formed a band that has played clubs in and around NYC, while also continuing to work as an actor, most recently in a workshop production of a new David Byrne musical, “Saint Joan.”

Jon’s is very happy to celebrate on Stage 2 the release of his follow-up LP, People Going Somewhere, which features 12 original tracks, and represents a huge creative leap forward. Sonically richer and covering a wider musical terrain, it is still steeped in rock, blues and folk, inspired by such artists as David Bowie, Harry Nilsson & John Lennon. Yet it avoids trafficking in any kind of nostalgia and feels very much of the moment. Co- produced with Josh Kaufman (a much in-demand producer & player who has worked recently with Josh Ritter, Craig Finn and Bob Weir) it was recorded in Brooklyn, where Jon lives with his wife, the actress Hope Davis, their two daughters, and their beloved Tibetan terrier, whose rescue from the streets of San juan, Puerto Rico inspired the side-two opener of Jon’s new record, “Jennie.”
