About Jesus on the Mainline, 5j Barrow, Pete Ayres Band
A fifteen piece rag-tag group of New York's finest young musicians, Jesus On The Mainline has played to sold-out crowds since their inception in the late summer of 2012. Led by GRAMMY-nominated musician Andrew Neesley, their music is reminiscent of The Black Keys, Mumford and Sons, The Black Crowes, with a dash of Joe Cocker and Janis Joplin for good measure. Listen for their epic soul cover of Nirvana's "Lithium" and the striking original songs of Andrew Neesley and Tim Emmerick.
Inspired by the spirit of Greenwich Village in the early 1960s, the musicians of 5j Barrow fuse the passions of poets, singers and instrumentalists into a new sound that resonates beyond the birthplace of the band, overlooking the Hudson River. Formed in 2011, 5j Barrow has built an audience brick by brick through the boroughs of New York City, earning the title of "Best Band in NY" after winning The Greene Space WNYC/WQXR's 'Battle of the Boroughs 2014.' They were rewarded with an appearance at the historic Apollo Theater. After releasing their album "From the Dim, Sweet Light", they took the spirit of Greenwich Village on the road, playing to packed venues in Cleveland, Nashville, Ithaca and Washington DC. At their first festival, Indie Week Canada, they came in 3rd place out of more than 150 bands from around the world.Their songs are packed with poetry, imagery and emotion and their live performance is at one moment explosive, while in another moment fragile and focused.
For those out there with a hunger for music that explores creativity, story telling, and musicianship, one need look no further than 5j Barrow to satisfy their cravings.
The Pete Ayres Band, founded in 2011 by singer-songwriter Pete Ayres, was originally formed in St. Louis, MO. After graduating from Webster University in 2011 with a degree in Jazz Vocal Performance, Ayres moved to New York City where he resides today. The Pete Ayres Band showcases a full, rich sound, featuring guitar, bass, drums, backup singers, and a full horn section, with Ayres leading on piano and vocals. The Pete Ayres Band specializes in pop/soul and R&B, playing electric live shows at the Bowery Ballroom, Rockwood Music Hall, the Shrine, and the Bitter End. Their 2012 debut album entitled Ordinary Friend is available on iTunes.
