About Jazz is Dead

Grateful Dead Tribute Jazz Is Dead: Jazz Meets Jam Band

Considered the greatest jam band in the history of rock by pretty much everybody, the Grateful Dead has spurred all kinds of imitators. But Jazz Is Dead is the first and only of the many tribute artists to have taken the original group's great melodies, rhythms and genius-level improvisation and translated them through a genre that perfectly matches that free-flowing vibe. Led by the Dead's own Rock and Roll Hall of Fame keyboardist Tom Constanten, Grammy nominee Rod Morgenstein (The Dixie Dregs), Chris Smith (Jefferson Starship), Jeff Pevar (Crosby, Stills and Nash) and Alphonso Johnson (Weather Report) have created what "AllMusic" calls "one of the world's most popular and original cover bands." Jazz Is Dead goes live at Westchester's historic Tarrytown Music Hall.
