About Jamie Leonhart

"Idiosyncratic singer-songwriters are so much in vogue right now that a free-thinking talent like Jamie Leonhart has a shot at mainstream crossover success. Leonhart's songs can be smart, whimsical or atmospheric, and her strong melodic sense and soulful feel can handle jazzy downtempo or folk-pop (imagine Feist, Laura Nyro and Corinne Bailey Rae on a bicycle built for three)." Nick Dedina, Rhapsody.com

The granddaughter of a cantor, and the youngest of three wildly-different musically-curious children, Jamie Leonhart's musical path was paved with an eclectic and vast array of genres -- from classical to surf punk; Jewish liturgical songs to the Great American Songbook. These influences, along with a love of language, brought Jamie to her current status: a sharp-witted songwriting chanteuse who is dynamic in emotional range and diverse in genre-crossing ability.

This performance, an intimate duo show with her husband and collaborator Michael Leonhart, is a precursor to a larger piece Jamie is currently developing that examines the complex relationship between being an artist and mother.

Her debut recording, The Truth About Suffering, was released on Sunnyside Records, and is available on iTunes.
