Members of the band hail from different parts of America bringing different musical and cultural backgrounds to the table. Inspired by the greatest classic rock bands to the greatest jazz players in history, The Coax is a band that is not afraid of running down the halls of influence and grabbing what they please.

In the Spring semester of 2014 at McNally Smith College of Music in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota the band spent time in the studio recording producer, Alexander Campos', senior project. The collection of songs recorded for the project turned out to be the bands first ever release, 'Whiskey Kids', which they celebrated at the Turf Club in Saint Paul, MN on September 4th, 2015.
