In 2007 Brownswood Records released Ben Westbeech's debut Album 'Welcome To The Best Years Of Your Life.' This release led Ben to tour the world both as a live act and as a DJ at prestigious events and clubs including Summer Sonic (Japan), Glastonbury, The End, Cielo (New York), Fabric, Yellow (Japan), The Jools Holland Show (TV), Pardiso (Amsterdam), Pacha (Ibiza and Moscow), Ku de Ta (Bali) and Mercati Generali (Italy) amongst many others. Producer, DJ, Radio Presenter, Promoter... musical polymath, Doorly seems to have already ticked off a lot of the things on any DJ's Bucket List. Djing in Time Square New York, Touring regularly alongside his early Inspiration Fatboy Slim, Recording TWO BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes, Producing and DJing Live for Usher & Nicki Minaj, and sharing the stage with the Prodigy to 65,000 people (Twice!).
Discovered by Pete Tong in his hometown of Huddersfield UK when he played at one of Doorly's infamous Afterparty Warehouse events that saw the likes of Armand Van Helden, Calvin Harris, Erol Alkan, Annie Mac, 2 Many DJs and pretty much any A-list DJ you can name pass through on a regular basis, Pete immediately touted Doorly as his future star and offered him a Live Radio 1 Essential Mix from the club itself.
Over the next 5 years Doorly went on to do a series of musically versatile remixes for acts including Kanye West, The Prodigy, Dizzee Rascal, Basement Jaxx, Play right across the world at all the major festivals and become a resident & stage host for Ibiza weekly stalwart, Ibiza Rocks. Doorly also found himself in the studio with another inspiration of his, Grandmaster Flash, working on music together.
Now a UK export, Doorly relocated to Los Angeles, California at the end of 2012 and has been busy and rapidly rising Stateside over the past 2 years, launching an array of his own huge parties; ranging from sunshine House & Disco gatherings on the rooftops of Austin at SXSW with his UK crew Skream and Jackmaster, 2000 capacity 'secret' warehouse parties in Downtown LA, and late night Mansion Afterparty takeovers with Disclosure under his High Society brand at Coachella Festival. All of this whilst simultaneously programming and co-ordinating his events back in the UK & Ibiza.
Doorly's Los Angeles 'Boom Boom Room' Studios are now fully up and running and he has been working hard honing and fine tuning a more streamlined 4x4 Sound. Early 2013 saw the release of nostalgia evoking 'new school' piano house track "Rush" on Diplo's LA based mega label "Mad Decent". "Rush" went also down a storm in the UK, gaining full sweeping support from Radio 1's first lady Annie Mac and some of the biggest in the game prompting a new signing and worldwide re-release by Mark Knight's Toolroom records over the summer alongside a host of new more underground House tracks on his Boom Boom Room EP series which have gained love from Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, Pete Tong, Fatboy Slim, Cajmere, Justin Martin, Huxley and Groove Armada to name a few. On Doorly's second Boom Boom Room EP, his tracks "I want you to dance" & "Cant Stop The Feeling" once again had widespread Radio 1 Love from Annie Mac & Tong but also sat pretty in and around the top 10 Beatport charts for over a month.
Alongside a fresh arsenal of original tracks now set for release across the year, Doorly was asked to officially remix Armand Van Helden's ultimate dance classic 'You Don't Know Me' and also the Seminal Steve Silk Hurley record - Jack Your Body, a track that gained full support from Claude Vonstroke, Seth Troxler, Skream, Eats Everything, Justin Martin, Catz & Dogz and was released through Steve Silk's S&S records in conjunction with Toolroom. Doorly also Officially remixed Claude Vonstroke's "The Clapping Track" Released in May on Dirtybird.
Doorly also now Releases on Cajmere's Cajual Records, his firest Single release on the Label "Groove me" sat at number 2 overall on Traxsource and top 10 on Beatport for over a month.
Besides his solo production work, Doorly last summer released the first track "Dissapearer" featuring The Scissor Sister's Jake Shears via their group collaboration project 'AVEC" made up of Shadow Child, Jake Shears and Doorly. The track received Huge Radio 1 support right through to the daytime shows. AVEC are set to release their eagerly anticipated second single this summer.
Continuing his work with Shadow child, June 2014 will bring a more underground Shadow Child / Doorly single called "Piano Weapon" which has just been signed to Polydor and has a huge amount of hype surrounding its release.
Alongside this project Doorly's relationship with Cajmere is growing ever stronger having released a collaboration track with Green Velvet on Relief Records called "Money" and more recently a collaboration with him under his Cajmere Guise, one in the series of many to come between the pair. Also this summer will see Doorly release collab tracks with another Chicago legend DJ Pierre as well UK pioneer Switch and Harry Choo Choo Romero.
Doorly last summer mixed the latest 'Southern Fried & Tested' compilation in and this June sees the release of his part in the legendary 'Toolroom Knights' Compilation series featuring new Doorly originals and collaborations including his second with Sonny Fodera.
This year will mark Doorly's 8th season on the White Isle of Ibiza (his second home) and his continued love and commitment to the islands parties is apparent in his extensive gig schedule with almost 50 dates in the Balearics already booked in for this summer. Including every Monday Night at Pacha and of course a return to his Ibiza family at Ibiza Rocks as well as a nice scattering of other parties across the island.
Doorly's dedication to the craft of DJing remains paramount, with sets being played out across four CDJs, plus samplers & FX units, he is a firm believer that a DJ set should be a live turntablism experience. Doorly continues to work alongside Pioneer as one of its Pro-DJ Ambassadors and is directly involved with testing, design and training with Pioneer DJ equipment together with fellow DJ witches James Zabiela, Zane Lowe, Eats Everything and Laidback Luke.
If you are not lucky enough to be able to catch a live set, Doorly fans worldwide hear his selector skills on one of his two weekly radio shows, Worldwide weekly Thursdays on London's Iconic Rinse FM and across the USA on iheartradio Dance Music station 'Evolution Radio'. A Station that is shaping out to be a huge and important addition to the US music scene. Doorly's "Boom Boom Room" show can be heard
every Tuesday night 9-10pm(EST) in between Pete Tong & Diplo's shows.
