About Ida Engberg / Reset Robot

A product of Sweden’s seemingly endless conveyor of techno talent, Ida Engberg has carved herself a career as a DJ/Producer through relentless hard work and passion. Now an internationally recognized talent whose taste for stripped back, sweat-on-the-ceiling techno and her discerning ear for deep house, Ida possesses a growing production catalogue as she ascends amongst the electronic music ranks.

Having picked up the DJing bug at the age of 14, Ida progressed from playing records in her local youth center to her first gig in a small bar in Stockholm by 18. The bar gigs led to club gigs and warm-up spots for international talent that passed through Stockholm’s infamous Cocktail Club, where Ida became a resident. Through contacts and events, Ida began to secure bookings outside of Sweden. “My tactic was to say yes to every opportunity I got to play somewhere, I basically just followed my heart and inner path”, remembers Ida. While in Marbella, Ida was offered the chance to work as a resident DJ over the summer. This experience gave her the confidence to push things forward by relocating to the Mecca of parties and craziness, Ibiza, for a full season in 2005. “Being there was so inspiring, I think taking that journey has definitely led me to where I am today.”

When Ida arrived back in Sweden, she put that inspiration to work producing her own music. Her first releases on Pickadoll and Get Physical in 2007 paved the way for her signing with the international agency Plantage13, and for the next couple years she focused her touring in mostly Germany, Belgium, and Holland, including her first Drumcode gig in 2008. She soon made her impactful debut in the US, at Sunday School for Degenerates WMC in 2009, leading to being signed by the US agency AM Only. Her later productions, including 'Owl’s Nest’/'Little Shadow' (Truesoul, 2010) and her remix of Depeche Mode's Sister of Night in 2011, both gained massive support and topped sales charts worldwide. In 2011, Ida joined the ranks of Adam Beyer’s techno juggernaut Drumcode, making her mark with acclaimed releases like ‘Blue Yonder’ and ‘Junoverse' in 2011, as well as the Adam Beyer collaboration ‘Unanswered Question’ in 2013.

Ida’s versatility is infectious, whether playing big room techno at Drumcode nights & festivals like Awakenings, or deep house at clubs and after hours all around the world. 2013 saw Ida continue her dance floor domination at the world’s most respected clubs like Paradiso in Amsterdam, Berlin’s Panorama Bar, Ushuaia in Ibiza, Cavo Paradiso in Greece, Pacha Ibiza, Gipsy in Moscow, and festivals like Wavefront Festival in Chicago, Ultra Miami & Buenos Aires, Amsterdam Dance Event, and BPM Festival in Mexico, amongst others. This past year, she has guest starred on residencies like Guy Gerber’s Wisdom of the Glove at Pacha Ibiza, Luciano’s Vagabundos at Ushuaia, Row 14 Barcelona’s “El Row on the Road”, and Richie Hawtin’s ENTER. at BPM.

2014 will see a flurry of US dates during her extended stay, including Igloofest Montreal, Story Miami, Spybar Chicago, RebelRave (and a kickoff to her Verboten residency) in Brooklyn, NY. She has a jam packed Miami Music Week this year, including Damian Lazarus’s 8th annual Get Lost celebration, Drumcode, and an exclusive b2b set with Adam Beyer for ENTER. March will see Ida’s Crosstown Rebels debut release before she heads back into the studio. Come summer, catch her in Ibiza & beyond with some exciting new collaborations and guest appearances.

Reset Robot is a name that will be increasingly familiar to fans of dubbed-out, moody tech house all over the world. Having released a series of well-received tracks on key labels including 100% Pure, Excentric Muzik, 8 Sided Dice, and Noir. Reset Robot then made a debut on Dubfire's Sci+Tec Digital Audio imprint to crown what has been an amazing start to his career. Soon after that he followed up with another EP on Sci+Tec and releases & remixes on iVav, Get Physical, Drumcode and Soma.

An astonishing amount has happened in the short life of Reset Robot. In fact the wheels very nearly came off before the project had been given the chance to succeed. Having deliberately set about the task of creating the android guise and devoting months of studio time to crafting a specific sound, the stone-cold commercial mentality of Robot's then management resulted in his deal being cancelled. Spurred on by a steely determination and an undying confidence in the quality of his own music, Reset Robot set out to finish what he had begun on his own. It was only then that the magic started to happen…

After circulating the half dozen or so tracks already completed amongst a small group of close DJ / producer friends word of these vibrant and fresh sounding productions began to spread with a speed that can only come with word-of-mouth. In a spectacularly short chain of events the tracks were out of the studio and in to the hands of key tastemakers such as Dubfire, Nic Fanciulli and James Zabiela who were all wowed by the energetic fusion of rolling, stripped-back grooves and warped big-room tech house of the Reset Robot sound; a vibe that fits compact and neat into a post-minimal techno scene searching to regain its soul.

The race to snap up these impressive tracks was now on. Never one to miss an opportunity to embrace fresh talent, Dubfire boldly signed a staggering six tracks to his Sci+Tec label including the awesome Pig Nose, which lead the first of two EP's that were released on the tastemaker label. Elsewhere leading techno labels 100% Pure (Airmiles), Soma (La Porte) and iVav (Fu Kaka) all made sure they were in from the start and were justifiably rewarded with several weeks in the upper reaches of Beatport's chart while upfront cuts appeard on compilations from Global Underground (Nic Fanciulli) and Cocoon (Dubfire).

2011 saw Reset Robot team up with Adam Beyer again with Adam signing a 4 track EP to his ever-growing Truesoul imprint. All 4 tracks gained massive support crossing both the techno & tech house genres. A single (Weeds) on Popof's Form Music was to follow along with a remix of Oliver Klein for Kling Klong and Fergie's Mad World for Excentric Muzik.

This year sees Reset Robot kick's things off with another EP on Truesoul and a tour of Mexico. With releases and remixes set for a number of exciting labels 2012 looks to be a stand out year for the English producer.
