Hot Jazz and Swing Lowdown with Tatiana Eva-Marie & Her Zazou Swing Orchestra and Danny Lipsitz's Brass Tacks

Tatiana Eva-Marie, lead vocalist of the Avalon Jazz Band and acclaimed as “one of the best singers around” by the Wall Street Journal, is coming at us with her new project “The Zazou Swing Orchestra”, a tribute to the jazz big bands of the Parisian 1940’s. Her long collaboration with Gordon Webster playing for lindy hoppers around the world inspired her to form her own swing band with a “French touch”, bringing to her audience the music of the American standards popular in Paris in that era along with French jazz classics that include the music made famous by Yves Montand, Charles Trenet, Maurice Chevalier, Henri Salvador… Tatiana Eva-Marie infuses this music with her unique grace and energy, making it her own and delivering swing as it was meant to be played: youthful, rowdy and romantic.


Danny Lipsitz is a bandleader, educator, inventor, saxophone/woodwinds player and composer. Performing in a variety of genres, Lipsitz appears regularly as a sideman for artists like Ronnie Spector, The Avalon Jazz Band, The Hot Sardines, The Losers Lounge and the world-famous Gordon Webster Swing Band. His group, The Brass Tacks, is a high-energy mishmash of traditional jazz, swing, and early rock and roll. Lipsitz performs regularly at swing dances and flagship NYC venues like The Rainbow Room and Joe’s Pub, where he recently had a sold out-engagement as artist-in-residence. The Brass Tacks were also recent featured performers at the Thomas Edison House Museum, where their set was recorded direct to wax cylinder for the museum’s musical archives.
