HONK NYC's 3rd Annual Dance Party

THE after-party to the Boston-area’s unprecedented HONK! Festival of Activist Street Bands, HONK NYC! was born in 2007. The collective effort of members of NYC's Hungry March Band, Rude Mechanical Orchestra, Veveritse Brass Band and Raya Brass Band, HONK NYC! came into existence when out-of-town bands attending HONK! in Boston made it down to NY afterwards for more music and mayhem. Beginning with a dinner at Williamsburg's now-defunct The Change You Want to See Gallery for visiting Italian band The Pink Puffers, HONK NYC! has grown to present school educational initiatives, kids' workshops and performances, and multiple parades and concerts. HONK NYC! alumni include: Batala NYC, Church Marching Band (Sonoma County), Dja-rara, Environmental Encroachment (Chicago), Frank London, Hungry March Band, Loyd Family Players (Oakland), Minor Mishap Marching Band (Austin), Paprikata, Raya Brass Band, Rude Mechanical Orchestra, Stumblebum Brass Band, The Pink Puffers (Rome), Titanium Sporkestra (Seattle), Titubanda (Rome), Underground Horns, Veveritse Brass Band, Yellow Hat Band (Seattle).
