About Honey LaRochelle

Funky like Chaka, Soulful like Alicia and Edgy like Lauryn, Mellissa Mya Larochelle, known professionally as Honey Larochelle, has been all over the world searching for a "sound." This Vancouver born, Texas Raised, Florida reformed, and Brooklyn saved vocalist began her almost 10 years of touring with the Brand New Heavies in 2006, and soon was touring with many other soul acts including Joss Stone and Omar. Not long after, her journey lead to a record deal with Macy Gray and a mentorship with the legendary Roberta Flack. Between world tours with multiple acts and her habit of producing, arranging, and writing for other artists, Honey rarely had time to reflect and explore inward for the sound she was looking for; one that moved her and felt like home. Finally, after many twists and turns in her story, this Roberta Flack Protege discovered her very own warm yet edgy mash up of classic soul, R&B, hip-hop and reggae music. Honey found her "sound" on the Fun & Sexy Side of Soul Music. Her debut album, "The Yes Feeling" was released in 2013 on Butter Fly Soul Records, a company she created with her partners, Brett Wright (uptown Magazine, Heavy D, Mary J Blige) and Jon Mansfield (Kiss FM-UK, Music Connex.) It is a timeless, soulful musical masterpiece that won her the "Best New Artist" Award from the worlds largest soul outlet, SoulTracks.com. "This album is my baby, I'm just a regular girl dealing with real life things- I just like to feel good while I deal" says the canadian brooklynite, "THAT's why I made this record!-It took seven years to complete, but finally it happened and my journey was all the richer. It's all about the journey." The Yes Feeling was preceded in 2011 by a Mixtape Release on Bandcamp.com called "Clean Lust and Dirty Laundry." CLDL is an expose that travels through the many chapters of love and shows the good the bad and the ugly of each. She has since written for many artists and featured on many projects, most notably her co-write with 2015 Grammy Award winners A Great Big World on their second released single, "Already Home." More recently Honey featured on a SourKrush release on Sub Nation Records called "Giving Me Life." This soulful house record is reminiscent of CeCe Peniston and shows listeners even more of Honey's versatility. It's "For The Kids!" as Honey likes to say. There is so much more to come with the recent completion of her Reggae/Soul Album on the horizon as well as an alternative RnB/EDM EP twinkling in the background as well. Keep your eyes and ears out for this young lady. She's a sure fire treasure.
