About "Homecoming King"

Hasan Minhaj's Fish Out of Water Comedy "Homecoming King"

"Homecoming King", the story of the "New Brown America," is based on true events from Hasan Minhaj's first generation Indian-American experience. The writer-comedian is best known as a droll "Daily Show" correspondent and contributor to NPR's "The Moth Radio Hour". Minhaj's debut solo show follows his arrival to the U.S., where he meets his estranged sister and encounters interracial love, racism and bullying. As he tracks his family's quest to achieve the elusive American Dream, Minhaj aims to strike up a "nuanced conversation about bigotry, acceptance and forgiveness, even though these subjects can be embarrassing." Watch him navigate between two worlds when "Homecoming King" comes to New York's Cherry Lane Theatre.
