About Here For The Ghosts: A Chinese New Year Celebration

Join us for festivities from 8pm to usher in the Year of the Monkey. A chance to hear from three young women all born in China in the same year, whose voices are among the most exciting writing right now. Acclaimed poets Jenny Zhang and Sarah Howe will read from recent work, joined by musician and writer Emma-Lee Moss, speaking and performing excerpts from her translation project. For those who wish to party till late, we’ll see the lunar year out with a selection of Mando- and Cantopop, plus other great, ghost-scaring tunes.

Emma-Lee Moss (aka EMMY THE GREAT) was born in Hong Kong, grew up in the UK, and is now based in New York. She contributes writing to Vice and the Guardian, and composes music for the podcast Mystery Show. Her albums are First Love (2009), Virtue (2011) and Second Love (2016).

JENNY ZHANG, born in Shanghai, is a poet, writer, and performer living in New York. She is the author of the poetry collection Dear Jenny, We Are All Find (Octopus Books, 2012) and the chapbook Hags (Guillotine, 2014).
