About Henry Flower (solo), The Hill and Wood (Sam Bush, solo), Nettles (Guion Pratt, solo)

David Van Witt (Sidewalk Dave) leads Henry Flower-- the botanical avatar for a collective of musicians including Jared Walker (Foxygen), Abdon Valdez III (Hellbirds), and Jamie Buxton. Together in Brooklyn, they bend to better formulate an emulsion for empathy. The capillary action of Henry Flower-- jangle-y sunshine goth music dosing the world of unknowing, floating philosophers-- ebbs and flows, slow-motion, through us in a rapturous croon, until we move - even just a little - for he leaves us somewhat altered.

Led by songwriter, Sam Bush, The Hill and Wood has been one of Virginia's most critically adored new-fangled bands since 2011. While the project has continued to evolve over the years - shifting its once folk-pop roots into a more multifaceted and stratified sound - its foundation continues to rest on good songwriting, strong melodies and the soaring harmonies of Juliana Daugherty. The music has been compared to Wilco, Andrew Bird, Belle and Sebastian and Sharon Van Etten, although Bush makes no prseomise to remind you of any of those people. Having recently signed to Randm Records, The Hill and Wood is set to record its third album in January 2016.

"When Sam Bush and Juliana Daugherty sing together it’s beautiful enough to make angels cry." - Brian Palmer, C-Ville

""Opener" is breath-taking and exquisitely crafted, packed with beautiful harmonies and gorgeously unwinding melodies" - David Zahl, Mockingbird

Nettles is the primary musical project of songwriter, poet, and guitarist Guion Pratt. Nettles puts Pratt's layered, lyrically-driven songs over impressionistic, melodic guitar compositions with roots in traditional British Isles folksong, cast through the lens of American acoustic psychedelia. Nettles has performed in both Europe and the US, sharing the stage with the likes of Angel Olsen and Julia Holter. Nettles' debut album, Locust Avenue, was released in February of 2015.

"Each song is poetry set to music, and the result is an album so lyrically rich that the listener is seized by a desire to write down the words and hang them up somewhere." — Cavalier Daily

“Dude can play guitar.” — Andrew Cedermark, C’Ville Weekly
