About Harlem Legends with The Nate Lucas All-Stars

Nathan Lucas was born and raised in New York City. He began studying music at the age of 7 at the Manna house workshop. He first studied Guitar under the guidance of the incomparable Skeeter Best. At age 8 he moved on to the piano and began to study with Madam Washington. Nathan was introduced to Jazz by his legendary Saxaphonist father Max “the Sax” Lucas. Music was just a hobby until he entered Lafamile Jazz Club in Harlem, which was his first encounter with the Hammond B3 organ. It was love at first sight and at that point he knew this is what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.

He currently leads several groups under his name (3,4, and 5 pieces),Fred McFarlane, Eric Johnson and Matt Barenello. The group prides themselves on being more than just a Jazz group, but one that can play any kind of music. They have donned the slogan from Bach to Bitney. They are currently into their 10th year of playing weekly at the Lenox Lounge.
