Celebrate with performances, drinks, and great company. This year's performers are:
Samora Pinderhughes
Samora Pinderhughes is a 22-year-old pianist and composer who recently graduated from Juilliard. Most recently awarded the Peter Mennin prize, Samora’s compositions have been recorded and played by Kenny Barron, John Santos, Benny Maupin, and others.
Lauren Desberg
Lauren Desberg has sang with Gibson-Baldwin Grammy Jazz Ensembles, the Brubeck Summer Jazz Colony and performed at The Monterey and Playboy Jazz Festivals. Her latest EP received rave reviews and featured an all star line-up that includes Gretchen Parlato, Josh Crumbly on bass (Terence Blanchard), Chris Smith on bass (Jeff 'Tain' Watts), and Corey Fonville on drums (Christian Scott, Nicholas Payton).
Stephen Woods aka AKIR (9:00pm set only)
An internationally acclaimed hip-hop artist, AKIR is a member of a hip-hop artist/acitivist collective called Rebel Army (a.k.a. Rebel Arms). He has worked with Immortal Technique, 9th Wonder, Poison Pen, Diabolic, Swave Sevah, DJ Static, Lauryn Hill, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang, Nas, and has toured extensively and performed at such major American festivals as Rock The Bells, Van Warped Tour, Coachella, and more.
