New York-based contemporary music collective ensemble mise-en presents a concert highlighting the work of contemporary classical Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen at Scandinavia House. Comprised of New York's most talented young new music performers, ensemble mise-en ("mee" means "beauty" in Korean and "zahn" means "to decorate") strives to bring a multicultural experience to audiences. Many of Abrahamsen's works are known for their small scale and brevity, yet his music possesses an almost epic quality, creating the impression that behind the sparseness lie expansive concepts and dense thought. In this concert, you'll hear "Winternacht" (1978), "Kharon" (2009), "Traumlieder" (2009), "In Memoriam Luigi Nono" (2012), and the New York premiere of "Flowersongs" (2012).
