About Hackensaw Boys

Hackensaw Boys: Americana Acoustic All-Stars

More and more groups try to recreate the sound of American roots and hill country music, but just one band channels the "spirit" that made the music possible in the first place: the Hackensaw Boys. Every song this acoustic ensemble plays pulses with the stomp and thunder of a barn dance, transforming each live performance into a party. Everybody in the group sings a bit of lead and a bit of harmony, all while playing instruments with the mastery of true old-timers. Instrumentation includes banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, upright bass and, most famously, a "charismo" (as in a "gizmo" with "charisma"), a contraption made from tin cans and a salvaged hubcap that serves as the outfit's percussive heart. Now the Hackensaw Boys bring all their instruments, plus their effervescent energy and powerful repertoire, to B.B. King Blues Club.
