About Gramercy Guitar Trio

The Gramercy Guitar Trio is Hiroya Tsukamoto, Japanese-born guitarist and composer, who blends East Asian folk melodies with modern jazz harmonic concepts in a unique and lyrically meditative style, and Pete Kennedy, a self-described "curator" of American guitar styles, who traverses a broad landscape from Robert Johnson through Gershwin to Monk and Mingus. Rounding out the trio is emerging guitarist Emma Munger, who brings a fresh funky impressionism to the instrument, with echoes of Frisell and D'Angelo.

Improvising around loosely framed originals and reinvented covers, the trio is both fresh and comfortably rootsy, and they go for the spontaneous moment. All three members play solo and as side persons on the road and in the city, so this is a rare show with all three guitarists on stage.
