About Goose

With an honest blend of funk fusion, rock, and folk, Goose is a 4-piece outfit rapidly emerging from south western Connecticut.

Rick Mitarotonda (guitar) and Trevor Weeks (bass) were first introduced by Pete Castaldi (guitar) in 2007, and have developed their interactive style of listening and playing together throughout the years of exploring various musical incarnations. One of these incarnations over the years saw the addition of drummer Ben Atkind into the circle, whom Mitarotonda met during his time at Berklee College of Music. The longstanding roots between these befriended musicians facilitated the graceful and seamless birth of Goose through the late fall months of 2014.

After a series of shows for their faithful home-region following throughout this past winter, the group ventured to the northern point of New Hampshire, nestled in to a cabin overlooking a frozen lake, and began recording their debut effort. The isolation and somewhat surreal nature of the winter landscape surrounding the cabin allowed for a deeper immersion into the songs and sounds they sought to capture. With the help of producer Kenny Cash at Factory Underground Records, they plan to release their debut album, Goose: Volume 1, early this summer.

Goose is eagerly evolving as they move their base of operations to Boston this spring. Ambitions of adding instrumentation, exploring new audiences, and delving deeper into the development of their sound will continue to illuminate the way for this humble company.
