Glades

GLADES is the solo output of 21 year old Zach Berns, a Colorado native. Since moving to New York he has established himself as an in demand collaborator and performer with various artists in the realm of neo soul, hip hop, and modern jazz. His ability to play the rhythms of Chicago footwork, west coast beats, and southern trap on the drums and SPD has drawn the attention of many around the city.

The GLADES live show is a live DJ set. The sound and structure is that of a DJ mix, but standing behind a computer has little place in Mr. Berns’ world. The show is performed live with SPD, improvised at points and precise to the nail in others. This is music informed by the spirit of Miles Davis’ 2nd quintet, the meticulousness of James Brown, the grit of Sly Stone, and the sensuality of Prince. But make no mistake; this is music of the modern age, for the people, and is always fresh.
