About Gideon Grove

Listed by Refinery 29 as a "Best Up and Coming Artist," Gideon Grove has quickly made a name for himself receiving both local and national attention with the release of his debut record "Wildfires." A native of Washington D.C., Grove’s introductory to music was early as he studied the viola and performed throughout the DC area, along with his siblings. While in college studying music performance, Grove started learning to play the guitar after seeing his talented older brother picked-up the instrument with ease. “I immediately fell in love with songwriting,” Grove says, “The whole process of creating melodies injected an amazing amount of excitement in me. I couldn’t put the guitar down. It was highly addictive.” This continued pursuit has led to the independent release of Gideon Grove's first album Wildfires, which impressively debuted in the top 20-singer/songwriter albums on iTunes following its November 2012 release date. iTunes later went on to a vote Grove's record in their "Best of 2012" category. His song “Beside Still Waters” was featured in Crate and Barrel as a free download in all of their stores nationwide. Highlights on this 12-song album include "Cherokee Stars", "Walls", and the title track “Wildfires,” which encapsulates his staple sound, a subtle blend of folk and modern guitar. In this song, Grove explores the past, struggling to put his history behind him in order to move forward. Critics are raving about the record, Washington Post praises the songs on the record saying "...each have their own unique and memorable melodies that move in and out of the song." Later, the Post says ".. Grove creates an epic and sweeping sonic tapestry that simply feels good to listen to." Big things lie ahead for Gideon Grove as he is currently in the studio working on his highly anticipated sophomore record, yet to be named, for release later this year or early 2016. Grove has teamed up with producer Matt Williams and music legends Jay Bellerose on drums and Eric Heywood on pedalsteel and is currently recording in LA. Speaking of the new songs, Grove says “I feel like I have found my sound/voice and I am writing some of my best songs to date. The record will be a more mature and raw sound and I am really excited for listeners to hear.”
