South African Pop-Fusion Band Freshlyground at B.B. King Blues Club

Freshlyground, the international Afro-fusion band hailing from South Africa, brings its energetic and infectiously groovy live show to New York City's B.B. King's Blues Club. Formed in Cape Town in 2002, the band is led by dynamic vocalist Zolani Mahola, who is backed by six talented musicians playing flute, mbira, saxophone, harmonica, drums, violin, keyboards and acoustic and bass guitar. This diverse and talented group of musicians blends traditional kwela and African folk with modern jazz and blues, as well as a youthful indie rock sensibility. Their distinctive and refreshing sound draws in a variety of fans from across genres, making them one of South Africa's most noteworthy acts.
