About Emily and the Complexes, More Than Skies, Maginot
After Emily & the Complexes’ frontman, Tyler Verhagen, spent several years hitch-hiking the U.S. playing songs on street corners, he settled down in Columbus, OH and recruited childhood friends Jordan Finke, Tom Konitzer, and Brett Gregory to turn his solo project into a full rock band. Drawing on Verhagen’s experiences on the road, the four began playing shows and touring nationally. The band released their debut full-length album, Styrofoam Plate Blues, in September 2012. Their newest EP/7-inch, Dirty Southern Love, was released August 2014.
More Than Skies is the singer-songwriter project of Long Island native, Adam James. Dating back to 2006, he has gone on to independently release the 2011 EP, "The Liar, The Puppet, The Fox" and 2012's LP, "I Am Only Above The Ground". His musical style has been best described as honest, orchestrated folk-rock with a healthy helping of angst. Each live performance brings something unique to the listener, whether performing as a band or as a solo artist, the passion and vigor remains in tact. He will make his triumphant return on March 24th, 2015, with a self-titled Double LP that is as intricate and dynamic, as it is personal.
Astoria's own Maginot is a band combining pure pop sensibility with high-energy execution. Rich Seibert (guitar/vocals)delivers carefully crafted lines with a genuine fervor, Laney Coletti (bass) provides a strong foundation on which the group constructs soaring melodies, Dan Hillier (drums) brings a ceaseless battery of percussion with almost surgical accuracy.
