About Eddi Front

Eddi Front was born Ivana Carrescia in Las Vegas, NV. Her mother is of Italian descent and is a linguist, translator, and teacher. Her father, an orchestra conductor born in Argentina, still conducts, and teaches music in Las Vegas. She and her mother relocated to a new US city every two years.

Ivana began writing and recording music on a 4-track tape recorder in her home in Long Island NY at age 15. Her greatest musical inspirations at the time were Pavement, Guided By Voices, Nirvana, Sade, Liz Phair, Cat Power, and Billie Holiday.

Ivana began playing shows while attending college in Savannah, GA and made her first 50-copy EP taped from a live show at "The Velvet Elvis". After two years in Savannah, she moved to Amityville, NY to finish her Fine Arts degree at Suffolk County Community College. She continued recording and playing shows in Long Island, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.

In 2006, Ivana moved to Brooklyn where she would release several EP's and LP's under different names. These recordings were mostly stark guitar and vocal performance style, i.e. "the purest". In 2009, she began working with Dan Chen, a producer and classically trained pianist, who made it possible for her to experiment with piano and other instrumentation in a studio setting. In November of 2012, Ivana released her first EP under "Eddi Front" to great acclaim. She will release her first full length album in fall 2014.
