About Dwight & Nicole
American recording artists Dwight & Nicole (Dwight Ritcher and Nicole Nelson) have inspired comparisons to some of the greats — Etta James & John Lee Hooker, The Rolling Stones & The Staple Singers — but it is their fresh blend of spirited blues, rock, and gospel that is landing them their own spot among the celebrated music makers. In 2010, following their critically acclaimed independent release !Signs, they appeared on the Boston Globe's annual "25 Most Stylish" list, and have been nominated for 6 Boston Music Awards and 4 Boston Phoenix awards.
In 2012 Nicole appeared on NBC The Voice; wowing all four coaches and winning the hearts of millions with her heartfelt rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," which rose to #26 on the iTunes Pop charts. 2012 came to an exhilarating close with a BMA win for "Female Vocalist of The Year."
Dwight & Nicole's growing fanbase is sure to fall in love with their upcoming album Shine On, which is altogether intriguing and full of heart. The album displays the perspectives of two artists who are both playing at the top of their game, resulting in a powerful merging of voices and one very rich sound. Shine On will be released in the Fall of 2013 and will be their first major release; heavily funded by their devoted fans via music-oriented crowd-sourcing site PledgeMusic.
Dwight & Nicole have traveled the world and performed for countless sold-out crowds in clubs and festivals alike, including Tanglewood, the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Life is good Festival, and venues such as the Somerville Theatre in Boston, MA, The Tennessee Theater in Knoxville TN, and the world famous Blue Note in NYC. Their music has appeared on shows such as "Nikita" on CW, "The Forgotten" on ABC, "Missing" on Lifetime, and "The Cleaner" on A&E. And they appeared as themselves in the documentary film "Where's The Music At."
This dynamic duo has shared the stage with a growing number groundbreaking artists including Ray Lamontagne, Los Lobos, Robert Randolph, Martin Sexton, Rapheal Saadiq, Levon Helm, The Avett Brothers, Michael Franti and Spearhead, BB King, Norah Jones, Buddy Guy, Dr. John, Dave Brubeck, Dr. Maya Angelou, Natalie Cole, Winton Marsalis, Carly Simon, The Funk Brothers, Maceo Parker, Joan Osbourne, Chuck Berry, Jimmy Buffet, Yo Gabba Gabba, Biz Markie, John Hammond Jr, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis.
