About David Allan Coe

David Allan Coe: Outlaw Country Legend

David Allan Coe is one of the most renowned performers and songwriters in country music history. Around the time of his 1968 debut with the album,"Penitentiary Blues", stories of his prison days and teaching a young Charles Manson to play guitar fed the flames and got his music and name out among the masses. The embodiment of the outlaw country style, his hard-edged and darkly humorous songs include hits like "You Never Even Called Me by My Name" and "The Ride." He's also written hits ranging from Johnny paycheck's "Take This Job and Shove it" to Tanya Tucker's "Would You Lay With Me." Still raising hell at 77 years of age, Coe comes to B.B. King Blues Club in New York City.
