About Dave Manley Trio
Dave Manley, Guitarist/Composer/Producer/Educator, has collaborated with major artists from the Neo-Soul, World, and Jazz genres in the United States, Canada, and Europe. He has toured and recorded with artists including: Herbie Hancock, Jill Scott, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Music Soul Child, Jeff Bradshaw, Carrol Riddick, Raheem Devaughn, Chiwoniso Maraire, Kindred The Family Soul, Dave Chappelle, and more.
Dave co-wrote the song “Still Here” on Jill Scott’s Words and Sounds Vol. One. He was featured in Jill Scott’s “Live In Paris” DVD and performed in Dave Chappelle’s “Block Party” movie. Dave has also performed on “The View”, “Ellen”, “The Tonight Show”, “Jimmy Kimmel”, “The Tavis Smiley Show”, and “The Today Show” in Philadelphia and New York.
His early musical experiences include performing, in his native Detroit, with Dr. Morris Lawrence (prize pupil of Sidney Bechet) and his Afro Musicology big band. He also performed with members of the original Funk Brothers Motown House band. Dave perfected his musical chops while residing in Los Angeles, New York City, Dallas, and Philadelphia.
Upon arriving in Philly in the mid-nineties, Dave broke ground working with international Dj’s King Britt and Josh Wink. He taught Jazz Improvisation and private students, as an adjunct professor at Eastern University Music School, while touring and performing, for over 10 years.
Dave continues to develop a fresh synthesis of musical styles from Jazz, Soul, Rock, Latin, and Electronica. His infectious energy is apparent in his recorded and live performances.
