Dashboard Confessional with The All-American Rejects
About Dashboard Confessional with The All-American Rejects
Dashboard Confessional is an emo band from Boca Raton, Florida, led by singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba. Their first recording was the 2000 LP The Swiss Army Romance, initially a solo side project of Chris Carrabba while he was in the band Further Seems Forever. Carrabba soon left that band to record and release his second solo album, The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, and a follow-up EP, So Impossible; both were released under the name Dashboard Confessional. By 2002, three other musicians had joined the band, including former Further Seems Forever bandmate Jerry Castellanos, and started the process of recording the group???s next album. The music video for the track "Screaming Infidelities" won the MTV2 award at the MTV Video Music Awards. In 2003, the band released its third album, A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar. Peaking at No. 2 on the United States Billboard charts, the album proved to be a unanimous hit with fans. In the summer of 2004, they recorded the song "Vindicated" for the film Spider-Man 2. Their next album, 2006???s Dusk and Summer, featured the hit single "Don't Wait." In 2007, the band released The Shade of Poison Trees, with hints back at Carrabba???s early acoustic roots. Their sixth studio album, Alter the Ending, was released in 2009, with a conceptual feel to it.
The All-American Rejects, a turn-of-the-century power punk quartet, formed in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1999. The band consists of bassist and lead vocalist Tyson Ritter, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Nick Wheeler, rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist Mike Kennerty and drummer Chris Gaylor. Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler are the band's songwriters; Ritter is the main lyricist and Wheeler is the primary composer. The group achieved mainstream success with their debut self-titled studio album The All-American Rejects, released in 2003. The album was certified platinum and spawned the super catchy single "Swing, Swing.??? The band's second studio album Move Along brought the group further mainstream success in 2005, producing the hit singles, "Dirty Little Secret," "Move Along" (certified double platinum) and "It Ends Tonight," all of which charted in the top fifteen on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their third album When the World Comes Down was released in 2008 and also went gold. Its lead single "Gives You Hell" became their most successful song to date, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and reaching the top 5 in many other countries. 2012???s Kids in the Street, the band's fourth release, debuted at number 18 on the US Billboard 200 chart. This eternally peppy, pop-infused group has sold over 10 million albums worldwide, were ranked No. 73 on the "Hot 100 Artists of the 2000s??? and No. 183 on the "Billboard 200 Artists of the Decade" list.
