Dana Carmel

When asked to describe her sound, singer-songwriter Dana Carmel ponders the question for a moment and replies: “If Regina Spektor and Pearl Jam had a music baby, it would be me.” Dana has always been drawn to catchy melodies, thought-provoking lyrics and passionate delivery. If you’ve ever heard one of Dana’s songs or caught her live, you get it.
Since deciding to switch majors at NYU from psych to music, Dana has been exploring her own methods of crafting songs on guitar and piano. Her songs draw from her formal musical training but also document her own experiences in life and love (yes ex-boyfriends, those lyrics may be about you!).

“I try to sing about universal topics. Feeling lonely, feeling unsure of your purpose, love, (unrequited and requited), fear …all the things that people feel but sometimes don’t want to admit or don’t have a way to express. I feel very lucky to have my music as an outlet and want to be the voice for those that don’t have one,” Dana explains.
